Garages of America adds more luxury car condos in affluent suburb – Dallas Business Journal

Responding to increased demand for luxury storage space, Garages of America has expanded in Collin County. The company has added 52 garage suites just off the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco, according to a March 27 announcement. It’s at the northwest corner of Frisco Street and Research Road. The new spot is a short drive from the company’s original Frisco location, which opened in early 2020 at 6767 All Stars Ave. and has sold out all 106 units.
The new spaces range from 1,500 to 2,250 square feet and are already 60% sold, according to the company. Buyers include automotive collectors, small business owners and hobbyists seeking secure, climate-controlled space. Unlike traditional storage rentals, Garages of America sells its units — what it calls “hangars for car lovers,” which are customizable and includes access to a private owners clubhouse.
The median household income in Frisco was more than $146,000 in 2023, according to a U.S. Census Bureau estimate — nearly $68,000 higher than the national level.
“Real estate ownership in a specialized community like this offers more than just storage — it’s a lifestyle and a financial asset,” Garages of America founder Fred Gans said in a statement.
Garages of America was founded by Gans and former race car driver Jack Griffin in 2014. Over the last decade, the company has expanded across North Texas, with current and upcoming developments in Carrollton, Dallas, Garland, Plano, Roanoke and Rockwall. The business has additional locations in Houston and Austin.
