Jack attends the 25th Anniversary of the Hill Country Rallye in Kerrville, Texas
It seems to happen every year. Winters seem to quickly turn into Springtime and almost seamlessly it’s Summertime. And, now that the threat of freezing temperatures has faded, it’s time for road rallying, driving tours and car shows. It’s time to do our maintenance work and dust off our favorite fun road cars and gear up for road adventures!!
The activity within our garage communities could not be more vibrant and active. Our newly completed Frisco and Carrollton locations have taken on a bustling and busy atmosphere as new owners are finishing their garages with creative and imaginative decors as unique showplaces for their car collections. Both locations will soon be completely occupied with cars of every type and style. And, many garage owners will soon be on the road to fun venues to rally and show their beauties in car shows.
I had the pleasure of participating in the 25th anniversary of the incredible Hill Country Rallye this Spring, headquartered in Kerrville, TX. As one of the five founders of the event, I’ve looked forward to it every year and marveled at its growth from a small handful of cars in the inaugural event in 2001, to this year’s sellout crowd of over 350 pre-‘89 air-cooled Porsches, from all over the US and many from Mexico. We all relish the three days of driving the challenging and scenic twisty back roads of the Hill Country, as well as renewing friendships that have made this event so popular around the country.
With registration limited to around 375 cars, the roster of applicants is full literally within a few minutes of registration opening every year. It’s always an honor to have a seat at the Founders’ Table at the large Saturday night banquet. As much fun as it was, it seems that as soon as we returned from Hill Country it’s time to prepare for the many other significant car events both regionally and nationally.
Over the years, it’s always fond memory times for me as racing teams venture to Sebring in March for the 12 hour event, in which I drove on four occasions many years ago. And now the Indy 500 is upon us, followed by the, “near to my heart”, 24 hrs of LeMans in France in June. Two memorable drives in that race 40 years ago make it my most remembered motorsport experience.
The local car show scene has never been busier, with a great choice of several car shows and events every weekend. At Garages of America, Carrollton, our monthly event Garages & Gearheads is always extremely well attended. Now that the Phase 2 development is complete and open, we have the extra capacity to host an even larger group of exciting exotic cars in attendance. P1 Motor Lounge, which is scheduled to open soon, will also add another layer of activity to our events.

Garages of America’s luxury garage condos are transforming how car collectors, entrepreneurs, and hobbyists protect and enjoy their assets. Rather than leasing space, owners at Garages of America purchase their garage outright, receiving a deed and Property Owner Association protections, making it an investment rather than an expense. They choose how to finish out their garage to fit their personality and usage.
Current and upcoming Garages of America developments include:
- Allen, TX (Phase I and II)
- Carrollton, TX (Phase I and II)
